Graft Calculator

How Many Grafts Do You Need?

Select your treatment areas and hair-loss pattern for an instant estimate. The exact number is confirmed in a free consultation with a donor-area analysis — but this gives you a realistic starting point before you even contact us.

1. Your hair-loss pattern

Choose the stage that resembles your loss — it pre-selects the zones usually treated at that stage. You can adjust the zones afterwards.

2. Treatment areas

Select every zone you would like restored.

3. Desired density

How this estimate works

Graft counts are driven by three factors: how much area needs coverage, how sparse the existing hair is, and how dense the result should look. Each zone in the calculator carries a realistic range based on the graft density commonly required to restore it — the hairline needs fewer grafts per visible result than the crown, where the whorl spreads hair over a wider area.

The density setting then scales the estimate: natural coverage uses fewer grafts and suits patients with limited donor supply, while maximum density places grafts closer together for the fullest result.

What the calculator cannot know

  • Your donor capacity — how many grafts can be harvested safely, without over-thinning the back and sides
  • The calibre and character of your hair — thick, dark hair covers more area per graft than fine hair
  • How much native hair is still present and how it may behave in the coming years
  • Scalp laxity, healing characteristics and any medical considerations

This is why the calculator is a planning tool, not a prescription. During your free consultation we measure the donor area, map the recipient zones and give you an exact graft number — together with an honest answer on what is achievable.

A note on realistic numbers

Be cautious of estimates that promise full restoration of advanced loss with a small graft count. Covering a Norwood 5–6 pattern naturally typically requires several thousand grafts — and a responsible clinic will tell you when the better plan is staged sessions or a combination with supportive treatments such as PRP, which is included in our packages.
